Our Story
Welcome to the House on Lincoln
Welcome to my little corner of the internet! I’m thrilled you’re here.
My name is Brenda, and I’m a solo parent to two amazing teenagers. Life threw us a curveball when my husband passed away in 2017 at the age of 41, and since then, we’ve been on a challenging yet rewarding journey together.
For the past 30 years, I’ve dedicated my days to teaching 4th graders—a job that’s filled my heart with joy and my life with purpose. I’ll be retiring from teaching in 2027, and I’m eagerly looking forward to the new adventures that await me in this exciting next chapter.
This blog is my new passion project, created to serve as an outlet for my thoughts and experiences. More importantly, it’s a space where I hope to inspire and connect with women who, like me, are navigating the complexities of midlife. Whether you’re dealing with personal loss, career changes, or just the wild ride that is parenting teens, know that you’re not alone.
Join me as I explore this phase of life, share stories, and find new ways to enjoy the world around us. Let’s inspire each other and grow together.
Thank you for visiting, and I hope you find something here that resonates with you.
With love,
Brenda
